How to create a folder on Android Phone

Mostly people like folders, because they allow us to keep everything well organized.Android is not an exception, and you can create various types of folders.

In this article we will learn How to create folders in Android Phone in different locations.

1. Folders on the Mobile Screen

2.Folders in the application drawer

3. Folders in Memory Card / Mobile Storage

Folders on the home screen

The home screen is the Place of the launcher , and therefore the function of creating folders depends on it. Luckily, the vast majority of Android launchers support the creation of folders, and the good news is that in almost all cases is done in the same way.

Generally, all you have to do is a long tap on an icon until you can move it on the screen. Then, drop it on top of another icon that you want to be included in the same folder.

After creating the folder, when you click on it, a preview opens in which you can edit the name of the folder . In some launchers you have other additional customization options, such as choosing your own color.

While the above method will work for most Android phones, there are some launchers that may not have support for folders. If that is your case, then your only alternative is to install another launcher, such as Nova Launcher.

Folders in the application drawer

Generally the application drawer should have only applications, but some launchers also allow you to create folders in it. If you are not sure what is the application drawer, it is the list with all the apps installed on Android and is available in most Android launchers.

In the launchers that support it, for example, that of Samsung phones, it is done in the same way as folders are created on the home screen. First you make a prolonged tap on an icon and then release it on top of another . This will create a folder that contains both applications.

In Nova Launcher it is also possible to create folders in the application drawer, although the process is different and a little longer. In the application drawer you must make a long touch in an app that you want to include in the folder and then tap the pencil icon. There you must choose + New group to create the folder.

In the next step you must choose Folder in the drop-down and give it a name . If you want, you can choose that the applications that are included in this folder show themselves in the application drawer or not.

The bad news is that you need to repeat this process for all the other applications that you want to include in the folder, which will definitely take you more time than dragging icons over icons as in other launchers.

3. Folders in Memory Card / Mobile Storage

Finally, we can not forget the “real” folders, those that are used to keep files in an organized  manner , instead of leaving them all scattered in the same place. It is possible to create file folders from any self-respecting file manager.

Google Files is the simple file manager of the company that has no advertising or unpleasant surprises, and allows you to create folders easily. To do so, you must enter the Explore section and then enter internal storage or SD memory, depending on where you want to create your folder. Then, open the menu and choose Add folder

The only thing you need is to choose a name for your folder and click Create folder . The folder is created instantly and you will see that it appears in the list just after, with the name you chose. If that name does not convince you, by the way, you can change it by touching the arrow on your right and choosing Rename

The folder is created, but it is empty inside. If you want to copy files inside, such as photos or videos, you must do it manually, either by tapping the arrow next to that file and choosing Copy to or selecting several files at the same time and using the menu at the top of the window.
